Aktiivimallina Nextiilissä - Working for a short period at Nextiili

Aktiivimallina tällä viikolla Nextiilissä ollessani ompelin erilaisia farkkulaukkuja malleiksi firmassa nyt oleville ja myöhemmin tuleville ompelijoille. Kaikkiin laukkuihin tein ohjeet joko erikseen paperille tai sitten tein ihan laukkukohtaiset ohjeet mallilaukkuun kiinnitettäväksi. Tein myös muutamia irrallisia, koristeltuja taskuja tai laukun etukappaleita vinkiksi erilaisista koristelu- ja tekniikkamahdollisuuksista (näistä ei ole kuvia).

I worked for a very short period this week in Nextiili making different small jeans bags as samples for sewers who are there already or will be there in future. Every bag has its own instructions either written on paper or special instructions fastened into special bags. I also made some lose, decorated jeans back pockets or bag fronts as a tip of different kind of decorations and techniques (no pictures of these).

Tämä oli kaikkein vaikein tällä kertaa tekemistäni laukuista. Laukun suun sulkee painava vyönsolki.
This was the most difficult bag I made this time. A heavy buckle of belt closes the bag.

Tässä pohjana oli runsaasti niiteillä koristeltu lasten hame, olkahihnana kangasvyö solkineen.
Originally this was a children's skirt decorated with a lots of staples. The strap is a fabric belt with its buckle.

Lisää laukkuja - More bags

Tämmöisiäkin laukkuja Nextiilissä tehtiin, yhtä lukuun ottamatta kaikki minun tekemiäni. Tuo kollegan tekemä oli pakko ottaa mukaan kun siitä tykättiin niin paljon että toinen kollega osti sen jo ennen kuin se edes valmistui. Kierrätysmateriaalia ihan kaikki.

These kind of bags are also Nextiili-bags, all except one made by me. I have to present the one my colleague made, because my other colleague loved it so much that she bought it even before it was ready. Everything is recycle material.

Tämä on se kollegan tekemä, läppärilaukuksi tarkoitettiin, koko vähän A3:a suurempi.
This is the one my colleague made. It was supposed to be a bag for laptop, a little bit bigger than A3 paper.

Läppärilaukkua pienempi. käsilaukuksi tarkoitettu. Ja juu, väreistä huolimatta tämä on tehty vanhoista farkuista.
Smaller than a laptop bag, supposed to be a handbag. And yes, in spite of the colors, it is made of jeans.

Even smaller than previous one, a handbag for summertime, made of jeans, too.

Löytyi tosi paljon tikatut ja koristellut farkut, paksuin tikkauslanka ainakin millin vahvuista. Ihan pakko oli yrittää säästää kaikki mahdollinen kuviointi, joten tästä laukusta tuli sitten ISO! Kokoa muistaakseni jotain 40 x 60 cm tai vähän alle. Tämä meni kollegalle läksiäislahjaksi.
We found jeans with PLENTY of stitching and decorations, widest stitching yarn at least 1 mm diameter. I had to save everything possible, so this became very big. If I remember correctly, size was something like 40 x 60 cm or a little bit less. This was given as a farewell gift for a colleagua.

Solmioista tehtyjä - Made of neckties

Olisikohan solmio uusi farkku? No todennäköisesti ei ainakaan minun kohdallani, minulle farkkukangas on lähestulkoon pakkomielle, odottakaapa vain mitä kaikkea teenkään farkkukankaasta jatkossa! Mutta olen minä solmioistakin tehnyt tuotteita, tällä kertaa esittelen Nextiilissä tekmiäni solmiotuotteita.

Could neckties be new jeans fabrics? Probably not in my case, for me jeans fabrics is almost an obsession, you only wait and see what I'll make of jeans somewhere in future! Anyways, I HAVE made products of old neckties at work in Nextiili.

Pöytäliina. Koko jotain 50 x 100 cm tai jotain sinne päin. Ryppyinenhän tuo näyttää olevan, mutta ompelepa täysvinoa täysvinolle kankaalle, eihän siitä muuta voi tulla kuin ryppyistä, vai voiko?
A tablecloth. Size about 50 x 100 cm or something like that. It looks very wrinkled, but if you sew diagonal into diagonal fabric, you can not get anything else but wrinkled, can you?

Itse tykkään tästä enemmän kuin tuosta vihreästä versiosta.

Rahi, tai oikeastaan taittopatja jossa solmioista ja farkkukankaasta tehty päällys. "Rahin" koko n. 70 x 70 x 40 cm.
Footstool, or actually a folded mattress, which has been covered with neckties and jeans fabrics. The size of the "footstool" is about 70 x 70 x 40 cm.

Laukkuja farkuista - Bags made of jeans

Työvoimaviranomaiset edellyttävät nykyään työttömiltä aktiivisuutta työnhaussa. Minä päätin myös aktivoitua, ja hain Pirkanmaan kierrätys- ja työtoiminta ry:n pyörittämään tekstiilien kierrätyspajaan Nextiiliin (Tampereen Nekalassa) työkokeiluun pariksi kuukaudeksi. Siellä olen ommellut kaikenlaista, mm. toiminnan pyörittämisessä tarvittavia sekä myyntiin meneviä tuotteita. Lisäksi olen kehitellyt ompelupajalle yksinkertaisia, farkuista tehtäviä laukkuja. Laukut saattavat tulla myyntiin joko Nextiilin omaan myymälään tai sitten EHKÄ Tampereen kierrätyskeskuksiin, vielä ei tiedetä mihin, koska tai myydäänkö ollenkaan. Joka tapauksessa, tässä niistä muutamia.

The employment authorities demand that unemployed should actively search jobs. I decided to activate myself, too, and now I am as a trainee in a textile recycle workshop here in Tampere, Finland. For a couple of months I have been and will be sewing products which are needed when running business and also made products for sale. In addition to this, I have also developed simple bags made of old jeans. These bags MAY sometimes be for sale in recycle centers in Tampere, but it is not sure yet. Anyways, here you can see some of my bags.

Nämä ovat yksinkertaisimmat suunnittelemani laukut. Kolme takataskua, neljä saumaa + pohjan muotoilu. Olkahihnana vanhat tekstiililvyöt.
These are the simplest little bags I have designed. Three back pockets, four seams + the bottom. Shouder straps are old belts made of textiles.

Pieni olkalaukku, sisälläkin taskuja. Hieman enemmän saumoja kuin edellisissä laukuissa.
A small shoulder bag, pockets inside, too. Some seams more than previous bags have.

Pienehkö läppärilaukku. Oli komeat farkut joista tämän tein, oli kirjailuja ja strasseja. Laukussa paksut toppaukset.
A small bag for laptops. Jeans of which I made this, had embroidery and bling-bling, they were fine. This bag has a lot of padding.

Tilkuista tehty laukku, läpän koriste on kiinnitetty paikoilleen napeilla.
This bag is made of jeans patches. Red decoration is fastened on its place with buttons.

Näistä laukuista tämä oli hankalin tehdä. Keskustan koriste farkkujen tikatuista sivu- ja/tai haarasaumoista punottu, olkahihnana farkkukankainen vyö solkineen.
This is the most difficult bag of these I have now introduced. The middle part of the bag is wowen of stitched seams of jeans, shoulder strap is a belt (made of jeans fabric) with its buckle.

Virkattuja kesälaukkuja - Crocheted bags for summertime

Kesä on ihan kohta, vain 2-3 kuukautta ja sitten ehkä on jo lämmintä - tai sitten ei. Mutta kesä mielessä nämä laukut on tehty, virkattu kiinteillä silmukoilla, materiaalina poppana, sangat kirppareilta ostettuja rottinkisankoja. Laukuissa sisätaskut, ei vuoritettu.

It isn't very long time for summer, only 2-3 months and then it may bi warmer - or not. Anyway, I had summer in my mind when I crocheted these bags of thin cotton rag (we in Finland call it "poppana", wooden arms bought from flea markets. Bags have inner pockets, no lining.

Farkkutilkkulaukku - A patchwork bag made of old jeans

Tällä hetkellä meneillään on aivan valtava tilkkutyörumba, teen erilaisia laukkuja farkkutilkuista. Kun säästää kaikki farkut viimeisten 30 vuoden ajalta, tulee joskus säilytystilan rajat vastaan ja farkuista on ihan pakko tehdä jotain, minä päädyin laukkuihin. Tavoitteena on mennä niitä myymään Tampereen käsityömessuille tämän vuoden marraskuussa, kunpa vain saisin myyntipaikan. Jos myyntipaikan saan, tarjolla on mm. useita erilaisia mobiililaitteille soveltuvia laukkuja, kaikkia 8 eri väriä.

Olen samalla tekniikalla tehnyt tilkkutöitä aikaisemminkin, ennen tätä rumbaa tein pari vuotta sitten laukun äidille lahjaksi (sitä ennen lähinnä istuintyynyjä farkkutilkkutyönä). Teen nämä farkkutilkkutyöt suikaleista, jotka leikkaan 4 cm leveiksi, ommeltu leveys on siten 2 cm kun käytän 1 cm saumanvaroja.

Kuvassa oleva laukku on se äidille tekemäni lahjalaukku, se herätti suurta huomiota missä tahansa äiti laukun kanssa liikkuikin. 

From the beginning of this year I have been sewing patchwork bags made of old jeans. I hava saved all our jeans for at least 30 years, and now (and earlier, too) I decided to make unique jeans bags. I have planned to sell my bags in Tampere Craft Fair on November this year, if only I get a sales place. If I get the sales place, there can, among the other things, be found several different kind of bags for mobile phones and computers, every model in 8 different colors.

I have made also earlier patchworks with this technique, for example a bag for my mother as a gift a couple of years ago (before that I made mainly seat cushions as jeans patchwork). My jeans patches are 4 cm wide stripes, I use 1 cm seams, so the ready made patch is 2 cm wide.

In this picture you can see the bag I made for my mother, everybody noticed it where ever my mother was around.
