Lampunvarjostimia paperinarusta - Lamp shades made of paper yarn

Jokin aika sitten kyllästyin totaalisesti vanhaan lampunvarjostimeeni (kermanvalkoinen kangas, ruskea-beiget hapsut, ikivanha...) ja päätin tehdä siitä paremman. Siihen tarvittiin vain paljon paperinarua, jonkin verran puuhelmiä ja muutama tippa liimaa. Kaikki metalliosat on peitetty paperinarulla.

Some time ago i got totally bored of my old lamp shade, which was cream white with brown and beige stripes. I made a "new" one of it with a lots of paper yarn, wooden pearls and some drops of glue. All of the metal parts are covered with paper yarn

Tämä varjostin oli  helppo päällystää koska siinä oli suorat reunat.
This lamp shade was easy to cover because it has a straight form.

Lamppu heittää hauskat varjot seinälle.

Nice shadows on the wall when you have light in this lamp.

Toinen varjostin olikin sitten aika paljon hankalampi piparkakkureunoineen, mutta aikani pähkäiltyäni selvitin senkin ongelman.
The other lamp shade was much more difficult with its curves, but after a quite long consideration I managed to cover this one, too.

Varjostimessa oli vain kaksi "poikkipuuta" halkaisijoina ylhäällä, tein loput paperinarusta. Myös tuo tummemman vihreä ympyrä on paperinarua. Onnistui se näinkin.
This lamp shade had only two diameters made of metal, I had to make the other ones of paper yarn. Also the darker green circle is made of paper yarn. It looks like everyone of the diameters were metal.

Tämä varjostin antaa ehkä vieläkin kauniimmat varjot seinälle, eikö?
This lamp shade gives even more beautiful shadows, doesn't it?

Riikinkukkohuivi - Peacock scarf or shawl

Kauan sitten näin kuvan villatakista, jossa oli piparkakkureunat. Sellaisen halusin itsekin virkaten tehdä, mutta koska lankavarastoni, niin runsas kuin se onkin, koostuu epälukuisesta määrästä eri värejä (n. 1 kerä/väri), en sitten aloittanutkaan villatakin tekoa. Aikani asiaa haudottuani päätin tehdä kaula-/hartiahuivin riikinkukon pyrstösulkien "silmillä" koristettuna (näyttää kuulemma myös perhosen siiviltä). Huivin koko n. 50 x 200 cm, lankana Paksu Pirkka, koukut 3,5 - 4,5. Huivilla on sen verran kokoa että vain n. puolet huivista mahtuu edes jotenkuten siedettävästi kuvaan. Toinen puoli on peilikuva, vain "silmien" väriyhdistelmät ovat erilaiset.

A long time ago I saw a picture of a cardigan which had cookie edgings. I wanted to crochet one myself, too, but because my stock of yarn consists of yarns one color/ball, I didn't start the cardigan. After a long consideration I decided to make a scarf/shawl with decorations like the "eyes" in peacock's tail (you can see also butterfly wings in it). Size of this work is about 50 c 200 cm, yarn Paksu Pirkka, hooks 3,5 - 4,5. This work is so large, that only half of it could be photographed. The other half is similar, only the color combination of the "eyes" is different

Tilkkupäiväpeittoja, tehty kauan sitten - Patchwork counterpanes made a long time ago

Ensimmäinen tilkkutyöni, jossa ensin ompelin suikaleet levyksi, leikkasin levyn suikaleiksi ja ompelin uuteen järjestykseen (toki olin ennen tätä tehnyt paljon muita tilkkutöitä, tässä käytin ensimmäistä kertaa tätä tekniikkaa). Koko n. 125 x 220 cm, yksittäisen tilkun koko n. 3,5 x 3,5 cm.
My first patchwork which I made by sewing stripes together, cutting into stripes again and then sewing into a new order (I had made many other patchworks before this one, here I used this technique for the first time). Size about 125 x 220 cm, one square about 3,5 x 3,5 cm.

Nuoremman tyttären peitto. Tässä ompelin ensin suikaleet pitkiksi (n. 15 m) nauhoiksi, tein niistä kahden värisiä suikaleblokkeja, leikkasin suorakulmaisia kolmioita joista sitten kasasin peitteen. Koko 160 x 200 cm.
A counterpane for my younger daughter. Here first I sewed stripes into longer (about 15 m) stripes, of which I made blocks of two different color combinations, cut into triangles which I sew into a counterpane. Size 160 x 200 cm.

Tämän samaisen peiton tyttären koira tuhosi. Kahdesti. Kuvat ovat ensimmäisen kerran jäljiltä, toisen tuhoamiskerran jälkeen peittoa ei enää saa korjattua. Valitettavasti ei kuvia tuosta toisesta tuhokerrasta.
This is the counterpane, which my daughter's dog destroyed. Twice. Pictures are after the first destroying time, after the second one this counterpane can not be fixed. Sorry, no pictures of the second time.

Neliöitä ja suikaleita vanhemmalle tyttärelle. Peiton koko jotain 230 x 290, kapeimman suikaleen ommeltu leveys n. 1 cm.

Jätevuoren laskijaiset -tapahtuma / Reducing the waist mountain -event

Tampereen Sampolassa (Sammonkatu 2) järjestetään lauantaina, 6.2.2016 klo 11-15, Jätevuoren laskijaiset -tapahtuma, jossa minäkin olen mukana esittelemässä omia, kierrätyspaperista tekemiäni origami- ja muita paperiaskarteluja. Ainakin noita kuvissa näkyviä, mutta myös muita töitäni on esillä. Mainostan samalla kävijöille 1. ja 8.4.2016 pidettävää origamikurssiani. Kaikenlaista muutakin tapahtumassa on tarjolla, kannattaa poiketa katsomassa jos liikutte lähistöllä.

Here in Tampere we have an event "Reducing the waist mountain" (free translation) on Saturday, Feb 6th 2016. I'll be there with my origami- and other works made of recycled paper, pictures of some works to be shown can be seen below. At the same time I'll advertise my origami course which will be on Apr 1st and 8th.
