Kesäkirjasto - My summer library

Kesäkirjastoni oli vielä keväällä epämääräinen kasa pokkareita sohvan selkänojalla.
Until spring this year my summer library was a scrappy pile of pocket books on the sofa back.

Tytär kainosti kysyi, olisiko jossain paikkaa kirjahyllylle. Kyllä, yksi pieni seinän pätkä oli ihan tyhjänä, siihen rakensin juuri pokkareille mitoitetun hyllykön. Puutavara 100 % kierrätysmateriaalia. Hyllyn leveys n. 45 cm, korkeus 2,3 m, syvyys 13 cm. Tykkään kovasti.

My daughter shyly asked if there were any place for a book shelf. Yes, a little bit of wall was totally empty, there I built a tailored shelf for my pocket books. Wooden material 100 % recycled. Width 45 cm, height 2,3 m, depth 13 cm. I like it very much.

Käsityömessuilla marraskuussa - Craft fair in November (I'll be there, too!)

Tänä vuonna osallistun Tampereen käsityömessuille, saapa nähdä kuinka tänä vuonna kauppa käy vai käykö lainkaan. Tarjolla on runsaasti suuria, näyttäviä, uniikkeja ja taatusti suomalaista käsityötä olevia nappikoruja ja -asusteita sekä farkkutilkkulaukkuja. Laukut on pääasiassa tarkoitettu eri kokoisille mobiililaitteille, mutta on mukana "tavallisiakin" käsilaukkumalleja. Kahdeksan eri väriyhdistelmää jokaisessa mobiililaitelaukkumallissa, valinnanvaraa riittänee. Lisäksi  myynnissä on ainakin origamikortteja ja virkattua, rottinkisangallisia poppanalaukkuja.

This year I have a stand in Tampere craft fair in November. There you can find button jewelry and accessory which are unique, big, showy and totally hand made in Finland. Also bags for different sizes of handhelds and laptops can be found from my stand. These bags are made of jeans patches, all together eight different color combinations can be found. There will also be origami post cards and crocheted bags made of thin cotton rag (we call it "poppana")

Kaulakorun kaltainen irtokaulus ja solmio.
A collar and a tie which are used as a necklace.

Napeista täysin ompelematta tehty iltalaukku, jossa irroitettava sanka. Sankaa voi käyttää kaulakoruna, laukun mukana tulee kaulakoruun liitettävä riipus.

Laukku tablettitietokoneelle, voidaan käyttää tavallisena olkalaukkunakin (olkahihna kuuluu vakiovarusteisiin).
A bag for tablet computer, this can be used also as an usual shoulder bag (strap includes).

Portaita - Stairs

Ollessani 12- tai 13-vuotias olin elämäni ensimmäisen kerran operetissa. Siellä esitettiin "Viulunsoittaja katolla", pääosassa Tevjenä muistaakseni Veikko Sinisalo. Muistan esityksestä ainoastaan kappaleen "Rikas mies jos oisin", ja siitä erityisesti kohdan

"... yhdet hienot portaat veisi ylöspäin,
ja yhdet toisi alaspäin.
Ja yhdet, huvin vuoks' ei minnekään..."

Tätä olen toteuttanut myös oman tonttini portaiden kanssa, pitihän jyrkkään ja korkeaan rinteeseen saada kulkuväyliä myös korkeussuunnassa. 

When I was about 12 or 13 years, I saw my first light opera, which was "Fiddler on the roof". All I remember of the show is this part of the song "If I were a rich man":

"...There would be one long staircase just going up,
and one even longer coming down.
And one more leading nowhere, just for show..."

This song became true with the many stairs in my courtyard, because I had to have lanes also vertically on the high and surge slope.

Eli siis "yhdet portaat veisi ylöspäin..."

"... ja yhdet, huvin vuoks' ei minnekään." (Umpikujaan päättyviä portaita löytyy tontilta enemmänkin, nämä eräs kollegani nimitti roomalaisiksi portaiksi.)
"...And one more leading nowhere, just for show." (Stairs leading into dead end can be found several units in my courtyard. My colleague said that these are the Roman stairs).

Mökin makuuhuoneen vaatekaappien ovet - The wardrobe doors of our bedroom in our country cottage

Alkujaan mökin makuuhuoneen vaatekaapeissa oli valkoiset ovet ja tylsät lankavetimet. Ovet ovat edelleen valkoiset mutta nykyään niissä on nyt vihreät kuviot, vetimet vaihdoin kirpparilta ostamiini nuppeihin, maksoin 20 nupista yhteensä 2 €. Kuviot piti ensin tehdä sapluunan avulla, mutta sapluuna oli liian paksua materiaalia (tein ne kaikki itse, leikkasin muovimatosta) ja maali vain valui pitkin ovia. Lopulta piirsin kuviot lyijykynällä sapluunaa hyväksi käyttäen ja sitten pienellä pensselillä maalasin.

At first the wardrobes had white doors and boring pullers in the bedroom of our country cottage. The doors are still white, but nowwith green decorations, the pullers I changed into the "buttons" I bought from the flea market (20 "buttons" were all together 2 €). It was meant to make the decorations with help of stencils, but they (stencils) were of too thick material and the paint ran down the doors. Finally I drew the figures straight on the doors using a pencil and with help of the stencils I had made. Then I painted everything with two different green paints using a very small brush.

Kuljetaan pitkin pihamaatani, osa 3 - Let's walk around my courtyard, vol. 3

Uusille lukijoille tiedoksi ja entisille muistutukseksi: päivitän näitä piha- ja puutarhajuttuja käsityöblogiini sen takia että kaikki piharakennelmat (pihakalusteita lukuun ottamatta) olen itse omin käsin ja nais-lihasvoimin tehnyt. Koko tontilla on alle 10 kiveä, joiden siirtämisessä olen lisäkäsiä tarvinnut, muu kaikki on ihan täysin omaa käsityötä.

As information for my new readers and as reminding for those who have followed my blog earlier: I update these garden- and courtyard texts here in my craft blog because everything built in my courtyard (except buildings and furniture) I have made all by myself with only female muscle power. In my courtyard there is less than 10 stones which I have not moved alone, everything else is totally my very own craft.

Today we'll follow the path from the back of my courtyard into the house.

A few steps around the corner, there is the north side of the house. The path in my previous update ended there.
