Joulu tulee! - Chrismas is coming!

Jouluun on vielä kaksi kuukautta aikaa, mutta kaupat ovat jo joulumyynnin aloittaneet. Teen yleensä joulukortit itse, tässä muutamia viime vuonna tehtyjä. Avattavat origamikortit, kuvat aikakausilehdistä. Kierrätystä tässäkin.

It is two months until it is Christmas, but Christmas sales have already started. I make my Christmas cards myself, here some of the ones I made last year. Origami cards which can be opened, pictures from magazines. Recycle also here!

Verhot vanhoista farkkupaidoista - Curtains made of old jeans shirts

Farkkuihin, farkkukankaaseen ja kierrätykseen pakkomielteisenä en mitenkään voinut jättää kokeilematta verhoja farkkukankaasta. Näihin käytin vanhoja, kierrätyskeskukseen kelpaamattomia farkkupaitoja (kiitos, Nextiilin väki!), vuorikankaina käytöstä poistettu pussilakana ja tilkkutöistä jääneitä isompia jämäpaloja. Malli ihan omasta päästä. Tykkään lopputuloksesta.

Kuvat on otettu kännykkäkameralla, ei ehkä parhaat mahdolliset mutta kaipa niistä idean näkee. Pitkä verho on n. 70 x 235 cm, kappa n. 40 x 490 cm.

Obsessed in jeans, jeans fabrics and recycle, I could not resist making curtains out of jeans. Here I used old jeans shirts which recycle center did not accept for sale (thank you Nextiili!), lining is made of old sheet and larger leftover pieces of previous quilt works. I designed this all by myself. I love these!

Pictures have been taken with mobile phone's camera, not the best possible ones, but I believe the idea can be found. Long curtain is about 70 x 235 cm, the narrow one is about 40 x 490 cm.

Kenkien tuunausta - Pimping my shoes

Vanhat kenkäni alkoivat näyttää jo tosi kuluneilta, mutta koska ne olivat myös tosi mukavat jalassa, en halunnut heittää niitä pois. Siispä päätin kokeilla Archie-ystäväni vinkkiä ja tuunasin kengät (lähes) uusien näköisiksi akryyliväreillä. Vielä väritöntä kengänkiilloketta päälle, niin maali pysyy paremmin. Molempia on tuunauksen jälkeen käytetty eikä maali ainakaan vielä ole lohkeillut.

My old shoes started to look out really old and worn out. But because they were really, really comfortable, I could not throw them away. That's why I decided to try my friend Archie's tip to paint my shoes with acrylic colors and afterwards they looked almost like new ones. A layer of colorless shoe polish makes the paint stay better. Both pair of shoes have been in use after painting and the color is still like new.

Virkattu "kahviastiasto" - A crocheted "coffee set"

Muutama vuosi sitten virkkasin äidille lahjaksi "kahviastiaston". Ohutta paperinarua, kartonkiputkea ja aaltopahvia siihen tarvittiin kakkosen koukun lisäksi ja tuollainen siitä sitten tuli. Kahvikuppeja on oikeasti 2 kpl, mutta kahta täysin samanlaista en viitsinyt alkaa esittelemään. Hieman ne ovat jo ehtineet pölyä kerätä käytön puutteessa.

Some years ago i crocheted a "coffee set" for my mother as a present. Thin paper string, cardboard pipe, corrugated cardboard and a crochet hook number 2 was needed to make these and here you can see the result. I made 2 coffee cups, but because they are totally similar, I did not take pictures of those together. Some dust this set has gathered because of the lack of use.

Tyttären hääpuku - My daughter's wedding dress

Tämän vuoden tammikuussa tyttäreni ilmoitti menevänsä naimisiin ja että hän haluaa minun tekevän hänelle hääpuvun. Muutaman lyönnin sydän jätti väliin, hetken mietin ja lupasin toteuttaa toiveen. Kankaat ostettiin yhdessä (ensimmäinen kangaserä maksoi 250 €), värit päätettiin vasta kaupassa. Viittä erilaista kangasta tähän käytettiin, lisäksi satiininauhaa ja paljon helmiä. Harrastelijakäsityöläisenä olen oikein tyytyväinen lopputulokseen.

Pukuun kuuluu myös keltaisesta pitsistä tehty kapeahihainen bolero, mutta se jäi käyttämättä koska hääpäivä oli niin lämmin. Bolerolle lienee myöhempääkin käyttöä, hääpuku jää varastoon ja muistoihin.

In January this year my daughter told me that she is going to get married and that she wishes that I could make her wedding dress. Some heartbeats after I promised to make her wish come true. Fabrics we bought together (when we bought the first amount of fabrics, we paid 250 € of it), colors of the dress were decided at the shop. Five different fabrics I used when I made this, and in addition to those fabrics I used also satin ribbon and beads. As an amateur artisan, I am very satisfied of the result.

I made also a bolero with narrow sleeves to keep with this dress, but because the wedding day was so warm, it was not in use. The bolero can be used later with other clothes, the wedding dress is used only this one time.
