Kun nappikoruni olivat Härmälän kirjastossa esillä viime syksynä (20.10.-11.11.2014, blogiteksti ja kuvia 11.12.2014), ne näki myös Likioma-projektin projektipäällikkö. Marraskuun käsityömessuilla me sitten tapasimme, ja hän kysyi josko tulisin heidän tiistai-tapaamiseensa kertomaan koruistani. Tammikuussa sovimme päivämäärän, ja tiistaina, 17.2.2015 sitten olin koruista kertomassa, pari-kolme kiloa koruja mukanani. Tapaamisessa oli oikein mukavaa, juttua riitti puolin ja toisin. Nappikorujen lisäksi tällä kerralla siellä juteltiin myös nyörien tekemisestä. Projektipäälliköllä oli mukanaan nyörihaarukka ja nähtiinpä siellä kumihimokin, siis nyörin tekemiseen tarvittava työkalu.
I had my button jewelry exhibition in Härmälä library last Autumn (Oct 20 - Nov 11 2014, text and photos in this blog Dec 11 2014), and the project manager of Likioma-project saw them too. She came to see me at the handicraft fair in November, and asked if I could come into their Tuesday meeting to tell about my button jewelry. In January we decided the date, and on Tuesday, Feb 17 2015 I told them about my jewelry. I had two or three kilos of jewelry with me. We had a good time there, a lots of talking. In addition to button jewelry we talked also about making strings. The project manager showed how to lucet braid and we saw also a kumihimo. Very interesting, in deed.

Kirjontatöitä - Embroidery works
Joskus kauan sitten oli aika jolloin olin äärettömän kiinnostunut kirjontatöistä. Ristipistotyöt olivat silloin suurin hitti, mutta on sitä tullut kirjailtua vähän muutakin.
Sometimes, a long time ago, I was very interested in embroidery works. Mainly cross stitch, but other kind of embroidery, too.
Minä, joka en yleensä tykkää valmiiksi painetuista ristipistopohjista, sain anopilta tietenkin sellaisen lahjaksi, ilman lankoja. Muutin pohjassa olleet värit paremmin mieleisikseni. Kirjonta-alueen kokko 34 x 43 cm, myös tausta on täytetty.
I do not like ready printed cross stitch models, but I still got one from my mother in law. I changed the colours of the model more like my own ones. Size of the embroidery area is 34 x 43 cm, also the background is stitched.

My daughter drew this flower (latin name stratiotes aloides, I do not know the name in English) straight to the fabric, I filled everything else from my head, did not draw anything. The size of this work is 24 x 27 cm.

Talitiainen käävän päällä. Alkuperäinen kuva oli hieman postimerkkiä suurempi, skannasin ja suurensin sen ja laitoin kuvan päälle ristikon. Lintu, kääpä ja alaosaan lehdet ovat suoraan mallin mukaan, puun runko osittain mallin mukaan ja tausta täysin omasta päästä. Työn koko 18 x 17 cm.
A great tit on a polypore. The original picture was a little bit larger than a stamp, I scanned and enlargened it and set a cross stitch lattice on it. The bird, polypore and the leaves are made as in the model, the trunk mainly as in the model and the background from my head. The size of this work is 18 c 17 cm.
Pöytäliinakin on tullut kirjailtua. Pöytäliinan koko 150 x 150, keskikuvion halkaisija 78 cm. Keskikuvion lisäksi liinassa on 12 pientä kukkakuviota.
I have embroidered a tablecloth, too. The size of this cloth is 150 x 150 cm, the diameter of the figure in the middle is 78 cm. In addition to the figure in the middle there is 12 other little flowery figures in this table cloth.
Joulukuussa 2014 kävin Museokeskus Vapriikissa, jossa oli esillä myös nunavutien elämästä kertovia kirjontatöitä. Niiden innoittamana päätin että teen itsekin jotain samantapaista, noita kirjontalankojakin kun on päässyt kerääntymään luvattoman paljon kuten kuvasta näkyy. Tässä kuvassa on reilusti yli 400 yksikköä (kerää, aloittamatonta vyyhteä) kirjontalankoja. Kaksi kuukautta kesti ennen kuin keksin millaisen kuvan kirjailen, mutta nyt se on keksitty, piirretty kankaalle ja jo aloitettukin. Kuvan koko piirrettynä on 40 x 50 cm ja joka kohta täytetään. Tiedossa vähintään 48000 ketjupistoa.
In December 2014 I visited a museum, where was embroidery works of nunavut's life. There I decided that I shall make something similar myself, too. I have far too much embroidery yarns, as you can see from this picture. Here is over 400 units (balls or unstarted skeins) of embroidery yarns. It took two months to find out what kind of picture shall I embroider, but now I have found it out, drawn it on the fabric and even started embroider. The size of the picture (after drawing it) is 40 x 50 cm, and every part of it will be embroidered, at least 48000 stitches must be done.
Torkkupeittoni "Kolmioista kuusikulmioiksi" (blogiteksti 17.1.2015) ollessa palasten yhdistelyvaiheessa tarvitsin jotain muuta käsityötä jota voi tehdä televisiota katsellessa. Päätin siis aloittaa jotain helppoa ja lähes aivotonta työtä ja otin Pirkanmaan Kotityön Paksun Pirkkalangan ja virkkuukoukun nro 5 ja aloitin. Työssä oli aloitusvaiheessa 10 ketjusilmukkaa, ja koko työ on tehty kiinteillä silmukoilla yhtenä kappaleena, kuitenkin ruutu kerrallaan. Vaikea selittää, kuvat kertonevat enemmän. Valmis peitto on 140 x 190 cm ja tein sen alusta loppuun valmiiksi 18 päivässä! Peiton värit eivät ole ollenkaan minun värejäni (paitsi siniset), mutta tykkään lopputuloksesta. Olen tämän mallin itse kehitellyt (tai en ainakaan ole nähnyt kenenkään muun tällä tavoin virkkaavan) vuosia sitten, kun halusin testata onnistuuko neuloen tehty korinpohjakuvio virkkaamalla. Näkyy onnistuvan.

When I was connecting the units of my blanket "From Triangles into Hexagons" (text in this blog 17.1.2015), I needed something else to do while watching TV. So I decided to start something easy and not-to-concentrate -work and I took thick yarn and a hook number 5 and started. This blanket has been done in ONE piece, but still square by square. It is a little bit difficult to explain, I hope the pictures will tell everything better. The size of this blanket is 140 x 190 cm, and I made it in 18 days! The colors of this blanket are not at all my colors (except the blue ones), but i do like this a lot. I have created this method myself (or at least I have not seen anyone making this kind of crocheting before) years ago, when I decided to try could I make same kind of surface by crocheting as by knitting basket pattern.

Origaminäyttely Härmälän kirjastossa 2.-28.2.2015
Nähtävillä niin seinälle ripustettavia kuin myös pöytäkoristeita sekä pienoismalleja. Melkein kaikki samoja kuin aikaisemmissakin näyttelyissä. Koska kirjasto on ala-asteen yhteydessä, halusin mukaan jotain koululaisillekin. Siispä tein muutamia eläintarhani eläimiä (osa esitelty Messukylän kirjaston näyttelytekstin 6.12.2014 yhteydessä) suurempina versioina.

There is products to hang to the wall or table decorations and miniature works, almost all the same products as in previous exhibitions. Because Härmälä Library is connected with an elementary school, I wanted to show something special for school children, too. That's why I made some animals of my zoo (part of it presented in connection with text of Messukylä Library, 6.12.2014) in larger versions.

Apina, kala, pöllö, kotka ja hevonen ovat muistaakseni Didier Boursinin kirjasta Origami Paper Animals. Didierin malleissa käytetään perinteisistä malleista poiketen myös saksia apuna.
Monkey, fish, owl, eagle and horse are (if I remember correct) from Didier Boursini's book Origami Paper Animals. In Didier's models you use scissors which you do NOT use in traditional models.
